I am trying to remember the name of a movie i saw in the mid 90s about a girl that moves to a small town.?

She works at the local cafe/ restaurant with a grumpy old lady. The
old lady has a secret son that lives alone in the forest and she
leaves food out for him every night. The girl dies at the end of the
movie and they run a competition to save the local cafe/ restaurant.
